IK BEN FREELANCE FOTOGRAAF (DEELTIJD) EN OOK WERKZAAM IN DE TECHNIEK
Als fotograaf doe ik zowel commercieel als eigen werk, hoewel de nadruk de laatste jaren steeds meer is verschoven naar mijn eigen werk.
Commercieel werk ik voornamelijk voor bedrijven, lokale overheden en soms voor particulieren. Dit betreft vooral documentairefotografie en portretten.
In mijn eigen werk ligt mijn passie bij het landschap, waarbij mensen als onderwerp ondergeschikt zijn aan de sporen die ze achterlaten in dat landschap – of het nu gaat om een natuurlijk, stedelijk of industrieel landschap.
Ik vind het ongelooflijk fascinerend om te zien hoe mensen hun omgeving aanpassen aan hun behoeften, in plaats van zichzelf aan te passen aan hun omgeving. Hieraan liggen vaak economische motieven ten grondslag. Ik probeer deze invloeden – of de resultaten ervan – vast te leggen in mijn foto’s. Het onderwerp kan variëren van weidse landschappen tot individuele objecten die mijn aandacht trekken vanwege hun vorm, functie of plaats in het landschap – of juist het ontbreken daarvan.
Mijn passie voor fotografie begon al op zeer jonge leeftijd. Mijn interesse werd gewekt op de basisschool, maar pas in 2006 zette ik stappen om er professioneler mee aan de slag te gaan.Ik begon toen aan een opleiding professionele fotografie aan de Nederlandse Fotovakschool, die ik in 2010 afrondde met een specialisatie in documentairefotografie.
Mijn afstudeerproject richtte zich destijds op de IJzeren Rijn, de historische spoorverbinding tussen de haven van Antwerpen en het Ruhrgebied in Duitsland, waarvan de heropening was voorgesteld door de Belgische Spoorwegen (NMBS).
Het project werd in 2010 tentoongesteld in het bezoekerscentrum van Nationaal Park „De Meinweg“ bij Roermond, waar de historische route doorheen loopt.

As a photographer, I do both commercial and independent work, though in recent years the emphasis has increasingly shifted toward my independent work.
Commercially, I work primarily for companies, local governments, and sometimes for private individuals. This is mostly documentary photography and portraits.
In my independent work, my passion lies with the landscape, where people as subjects are secondary to the mark they leave on that landscape—whether it’s a natural, urban, or industrial landscape.
I find it incredibly fascinating to see how people adapt their environment to their needs, rather than adapting themselves to their environment. Economic motives often underlie this. I try to capture these influences—or their results—in my images. The subject matter can range from sweeping landscapes to individual objects that catch my eye because of their form, function, or place in the landscape—or the lack thereof.

My passion for photography began at a very early age. My interest was sparked in elementary school, but it wasn’t until 2006 that I took steps to pursue it more professionally.
I then began a professional photography program at the Nederlandse Fotovakschool, which I completed in 2010 with a specialization in Documentary Photography.

My graduation project at the time focused on the IJzeren Rijn, the historic rail link between the Port of Antwerp and the Ruhr region in Germany, the reactivation of which had been proposed by the Belgian Railways (NMBS).
The project was exhibited in 2010 at the visitor center of “De Meinweg” National Park near Roermond, through which the historic route runs.
